Proper spelling is "bombardon", and yes, it is a tuba in B flat and it looks like it will sell cheap. However, although it is very noble of you to want to help out your school, this is not a good choic, IMHO. It's old and, not in the best of condition. Certainly beginning players don't need a $6000 instrument, but they should have an instrument that looks good, plays in tune, and has a decent tone quality. If the school has a marching band, usually when the budget is a concern, they use sousaphones. BTW, these should be all brass, not fiberglass! Yes, those are lightweight and easier to carry, but there is zero tone quality.
