Joe,

It didn't occur to me that someone might interpret my post as involving a comparision based on shinny or not shinny. Perhaps you're still a bit steamed from the somewhat remarkable post below. I suppose I be lucky to find someone who's played them both, but why not ask?

Have you ever played the Holton 6/4 in a small ensemble or quintet?

Regarding the tuning: I had the tuner on it within the first 30 minutes. As expected. Here was a suprise though: changes to the embrochure that would move the tuner about 10 cents on my 2341 (up or down), swing the meter all the way. This horn is the most sensitive horn to changes in the embrochure that I've ever played/checked. Why is that?

Do you think I'm trying to talk myself into buying it? Perhaps your right. I'm a bit intimidated by the concept of a 6/4 as my only horn. I suspect it's more a "theory" problem than an actual one. What do you think?

Thanks for your insight.

Tony E
