I know some folks may laugh, but for the money, are Amati Tubas a good buy for use in community bands, small ensembles, and quintets? I don't have a rich family who can buy me a Hirsbrunner or Meinl-Weston upper line. All I want is a new horn that has 3 0r 4 pistons, good solid sound, good intonation, very sturdy construction and is compact. I am at constant odds with myself over price versus quality and balancing it with my personal needs and budget. I want a new quality made horn, but not a horn that is too large or too small or has thin metal and poor construction. Your help would be appreciated. Thank You!
