I have always gotten compliments on my "King" sound, but I agree that the resistance on the 4th valve is a problem. I agree that a larger 4th valve bore such as on the 52J and 56J would cure that. I get around the problem somewhat by using a couple of mouthpieces -an MF3 for concert band for low register and an MF 2 for jazz and quintets. But if UMI changed that 4th valve setup, and they easily could in my opinion since they've already done it for the CC tubas, I'd mortgage my grandkids for one. Well okay, maybe not, but I might consider it at least!
