With regards to the bell, take a look at my website with side by side pictures of the new King vs my 1910 King (the U's server seems slow today so be patient). I took the horn to Dillons for some minor work recently. Matt said the new King bell was based on a 3 valve version of my horn. In my photos the bottom bow and bell look nearly identical. One of the first repairs on this horn (not by Dillons) involved a new bottom bow guard. The new King guard fit perfectly. I don't find the 4th valve on my horn stuffy at all, although it did need to be shortened for intonation reasons (Matt's handiwork). The low end is much better compared to the old King and the false tones are amazing - or so I've heard. Others have played this horn and are amazed with those notes, I just wish I could play them - I'm working on it - slowly.

Philip
