Aside from tradition, why is the F tuba the main axe for tuba players in most part of Europe? Are there reasons such as blend issues? ease of playing? Projection? (leaving aside the whole rotary vs. piston debate)
Because I would think that much symphonic literature could use some weight in the lower brass. Or is it that America goes for more weight and heaviness where as Europe goes for lightness and clarity in sound?
