Okay, here it is. It's on an EMI Classics re-release of old recordings. The catalog number is CMS 5 66543 2, and there's a USA number, CDMB 66543. The number on the edge is still different, 7243 5 66543 2 7, which is also (surprise!) the number on the bar code.

It includes two CD's of all historical recordings. On the front, it says "British Composers / Vaughan Williams / Sinfonia antartica - Oboe Concerto - Tuba Concerto / Elgar / Introduction & Allegro - Cockaigne - Serenade for Strings / Halle Orchestra - London Symphony Orchestra / Sir John Barbirolli / Recorded 1949-55". The Tuba Concerto was recorded with the LSO August 14, 1954, the day after the premiere.

Evelyn Rothwell is the oboist, and the oboe concerto is wonderful. All of Barbirolli's RVW conducting is richly done and he was a favorite of the composer, so the recording is worth having even without the Catelinet recording of the tuba concerto. I bought it from Tower Records UK on their website about a year ago--it wasn't available in the U.S--and they quite happily mailed it to me over the pond.
