1) I think its weird that somebody told you miraphones waste air, most people I have talked to usually praise the miraphone on it's ability to allow good air flow.

2) In the US, yes, using a BBb can hurt a performance opportunity. I am not saying they are bad horns, but are overall looked down apon by many musicians and conductors. It seems that as opposed to germany, the US conductors, musicians, etc, prefer the slightly crisper sound of the CCb. Now yes, the player contributes a huge ammount to the sound of the horn, but in 'GENERAL' BBbs will have a broader, less articulated sound than a CC. Not necessarily a bad thing in itself, it is just the overall music community in the US appears to not like the sound as much.

I am talking in very general terms here, and this is just from what the majority of people I have heard from have said on the matter.
