A Cappella Tuba

I occasionally have an opportunity to present the concept of tuba as a solo instrument to a new audience. For many of these getting an accompanist is problematic. Many (most, almost all) of the unaccompanied solos I know are "just a bit out there". Just not the kind of music where people are going to start tapping their foot, jumping out of their chairs to dance, or are going to be humming in the shower later because there actually is a melody. Could anyone suggest some unaccompanied pieces that demonstrate some technique and range and lyricism and sensitivity and drama that an uninitiated audience would actually enjoy listening to?
