I've been wondering, there seems to be a more-or-less consensus about copyrights
on music amongst us, namely the majority of folks who identify themselves publicly see respect for those rights as very important and in our field an imperative. Of course, there's a minority who want tot say publicly that they will foto copy or perform publicly anything they please and damned the copy rights holders.
We have something similar with Mr. Phillips' copyrighted TubaChristmas, and generally when someone chooses to conduct a TubaChristmas event they do so using the guidelines Mr. Phillips proscribes as the owner of that registered trademark.
What I am wondering out-loud about is this: things like names of activities or events are often the property of others, and I am wondering if these events are being conducted with the approvals of the trademark/copyright holders. This seems like a timely discussion topic, since folks are stirring into activity for the fall and also upcoming "holiday" period.
