OK - Here's the deal.
I'm 37-years-old, have played tuba for most of that time but am now going to get a little bit more serious about it. I know how to play - have played everything from wind ensembles to pit-orchestras to brass quintets to polka and dixieland bands.
I have about $3,000 to spend and want to get a nicer horn that will last me.
A few questions:
I've been playing BBb all my life. Is a CC, F or Eb better sounding? Easier to play?
Is the switch to CC difficult? How are the fingerings different?
Is a 3/4 tuba good for most situations or should I be looking at a 4/4 or bigger?
Pistons or Rotary?
Silver or brass plated?
What type of 4 valve horn (new or used) can I expect to get in my budget?
Any advice would be helpful. Feel free to post on the tubenet board or e-mail me.
Thanks
