So I've finally graduated with my masters in performance, I love teaching so I have no plans to play professionally but I might do the adjuct prof. thing if the opportunity ever presents itself. The problem I'm having is finding motivation. I practice 1 to 3 hours a day because I love playing the tuba, but there are few performance opportunities here in N. Ga, and I'm finding it hard to search out new solos and work them up. When I compare myself to Pokorney, Velvet, Bobo, and Perantoni it all seems pointless to work on tunes that will never be perfect and probably never be heard. So I practice every day to maintain my present level and buy a lot of music which I piddle around with for a while and then put away. I guess I'm just wondering have any of you other guys out there ever felt this way and if so, how did you get over it?

P.S. Anybody need a tuba player in N. Georgia?
