I have no first-hand knowledge about this situation. However, I recently read somewhere that film makers are re-directing some sound track recording (movies, TV shows, commercials, etc.) away from the Hollywood/Los Angeles musicians because of the high costs imposed by the local union contracts. Apparently, some of the work is going to musicians in Salt Lake City and Seattle where costs may be lower.
