I never said that 33hz had a negative effect! Quite the opposite, from everything I have read. Several responders have completely misinterpreted my first post, if that's what they believe I am claiming. My original point was that the MONOTONY of long tones was annoying, and I wanted to find a PLEASING PITCH to throw in there. That pitch is a favorite of urban DJ's and I figured it is worth exploring on the tuba.

BTW, I used to play a pipe organ with a 16 foot diapason and 16 foot reed stop (named trombone) some years ago, and loved it. I have on rare opportunities heard 32' pipes and they make me absolutely drool, especially the 32 foot 'tuba' reed stops. Such a growl that could never come out of an electric organ.
