Good guess, but wrong. Impromptu tests were carried out by DJ's where females would sit on or near subwoofers. Pitches of different bass frequencies were tried up and down the range, and one specific frequency in particular stood out; 33hz was very, uh, err, um, satisfying, compared to the rest of the pitches which did little but perhaps slightly massage.
I have found links on this topic around the Internet as well as discussion of this topic by 5 string bass players who got the 5th string for the main reason of playing the slightly sharp low C that is this pitch (Just learned that). I could post links to these but they may not be in good taste. Since these tests, this pitch has been adopted by many DJ's and one group even named themself after it (the frequency, that is).
