Hi all,
The Wind Ensemble that I play for has chosen the peice "Der Traum des Oenghus" (the dream, a romantic type peice composed by Rudolf Rudin(German)) as a peice of festival literature this year. It involves the frequent usage of load, full, low D's, and alot of pedal B flats as well, although it isn't really pedal because my tuba is a Cc, but that's besides the point.
I can make these pitches respond on my PT-6P Cc tuba, but I was wondering if anyone out there has got some personal experience on how to strengthen response and sound on the lower registers. It doesn't sound bad, but it's not like I want it either. The sound is a bit to thin on the low BBBb, and I'd like to thicken it up, and give it some strength. And approximately how low can one take a standard Cc BBb orchestral tuba. any ideas. is there a pedal, pedal B flat, or does it simply take the lungs of God to play something like that.

cheerz,
