The week before the Army Conference, Mr. Pokorny taught a master class I attended in Cheyenne. He did discuss use of the tuba stand when playing the big York tuba he had with him, and mentioned the horn resonance factor-but almost in passing. What he emphasized was the use of a stand, but not only to position your horn right where you need it. Your better posture saves your back, and resting the horn on the stand saves your legs and feet from (like in Mr. Jacobs case) the near-crippling cumulative effect of weight and positioning. MY conclusion was I need one of these for my big tuba, and if THIS one can slow the aging process some that way, great!
