A perfect example of this need to explore alternatives such as a stand: As do many of us, I spent many hours a week with the left side of my butt pushed firmly against the diagonal leg of a metal folding chair, so that there would be a place left for the base of the horn on the front of the chair. What developed was a bad case of bursitis right where I was pushing against the diagonal leg strut!Once I identified what was causing the pain, I quickly got a K&M stand; the pain is easing now as the bursa heals itself. I find that my back doesn't hurt so much either, now that I have a secure support and can move around without fear of the horn sliding off the rounded edge of the chair.Yes, it costs a bit of money to accomodate age, but I'd say it's well worth it to have fewer aches and pains!
