I have a portable minidisc recorder, the Sony MZR-70 and Sony ECM-MS907 mic. My minidisc recorder has no input levels so when I hook my microphone into the mic jack, everything I play gets clipped. When I plug the mic in the line in, obviously everything is pretty much inaudible.
SO, I bought a Behringer Eurorack MX802A. It's a small 8 channel mixer for under $100. I'm mainly just curious about some of the things on it. What does Phantom Power mean? I looked it up in the archives and the term is tossed around but never described. Also, my microphone has a 1/8" jack, so I have a long an adaptor on it going to XLR. Am I losing much quality on the whole? Any other suggestions from novice audio engineers?
