Some weeks ago, my son Graham posted here on TubeNet to ask if anyone was willing to join him in Nashville to play Christmas carols for his then-ailing 93+ year old great-grandfather. Some of the folks who responded ultimately were not able to participate but I would like to thank all of those who expressed a willingness to join in.

I would especially like to express my deepest appreciation to Gilbert Long (of the Nashville Symphony) and to well-known Nashville musicians Billy Huber and Ike Harris, who were willing to find the time in their busy lives to entertain a fine old gentleman and to encourage a young tuba player by their willingness to play with him.

The willingness of these three pros to join in entertaining an ailing senior citizen on the day before Christmas Eve only emphasizes again what I already knew: that the folks who play tubas are, as a group, the nicest and kindest group of people I've ever met.

Ike, Billy, and Gil, thanks again.
