I have a 4th grade student in his second year of study who is motivated and ready to lose the tiny Yamaha 103 and move to a 4valve B-flat tuba. He is bigger than your average 4ht grader(tuba player build) and can reach most leadpipe/valve setups properly. His parents are also on board but don't want to break the bank.
Some models that come to mind are the Meinl Weston 18, King 2341(although I don't know the ergonomics that well) and a well chosen(by his teacher) Cerveny Compact model. does Miraphone have a Piggy sized model that I'm not aware of? I want this tuba to get him through his middle school years and into high school possibly. Price point is probably around 3,000.

thoughts?
