Does anyone play the Beversdorf for College Auditions anymore? Sure, Beversdorf was a great guy - and wrote good music - but the whole Sonata is really repetative and what college professor really wants to sit there and listen to tuba players playing 4 minutes of artiuclation exercises when they could be listening to something with more musical content yet still music? Yes, it is an accomplishment if you can make music out of this piece - quite an accomplishment - but there are other 'technical' pieces out there that have more music to them aren't there? What are the ones people are playing these days?
