Jay, let me ask the question in a more narrow way. (I really was just fishing for your personal opinion.):

Do you like having the sound of a note an octave and a fifth above mixed in fairly prominently (in tune) with the lip-frequency (actual note) sound of a given note that you are playing? ie: playing C below the staff, and G up in the staff is a very subtile part of that C's sound, but not an overbearing part of it.

My curiosity about your opinion stems from the fact that one of my project tubas (the one that I pick up and toot on the most, even though it is nowhere near completion) has this characteristic, and I find that sound to be alluring.

No "correct" answer - you. "I dunno." or " ' never thought about it" OK, too.
