I am putting together a list of "must listen" pieces for tuba students. I already have a significant list of music, but I know I'm missing a lot of great stuff. Please tell me what pieces you feel have significant value to tubists in terms of listening value. Please also include your reasons for suggesting the piece ie: pure musical value, or good examples of phrasing in the strings, or excellent balance or just good orchestration. For example, some of the pieces on my list are the Barber Adagio For Strings, the Finale from the Kallinikov Symphony, Bach's Brandenberg Concertos, Strauss and Mozart Horn Concerti, etc. I am not just focussing on orchestral music, but also band, brass band, small ensemble, string 4tet, solos by other instruments, etc. You get the idea.

Thanks!
