Charles Hunter was an amazing tuba player. He was one of my first teachers, and gave me what I needed to get started: etude books, excerpt books, typical audition lists, and got me ready to play excerpts when I was in early high school. He used to play in the Savannah,(GA) Symphony, and then played for a one-year position in the Jacksonville,(FL) Symphony. His teaching was great for me then, and it was always a pleasure to hear him play in my lessons; he had chops of steel!
His life ended away too early, and I miss him a lot. He was a very good soul.
