...the bass trombone player is actually Bob Hughes (they call him Bob Huge), who went on to the Philharmonia Orchestra, and is now bass trombonist of the London Symphony. He plays a Conn 62H with a Bach 1 1/2 G mpc...goes to show that you can get a big sound out of equipment that's not that big. BTW, I own most of the recordings you list, and curiously, the piece that first drew my attention was from the Elgar CD that the original poster mentioned..."In the South" Overture.
