After the initial discussion on the Scottish National Orchestra and who the bass trombone was/is, I email the RSNO for confirmation. The response was as follows:
"Bob Hughes played the Bass Trombone until c.1988 when he was replaced by
Alistair Sinclair who has played ever since."
"I believe..." was correct. I stand corrected.
