Okay,
I've been cruising the shop sites for the last few months, comtemplating a new horn purchase. Everytime I go to the Low Brass Werks site I see the information for an Alex 166 F/CC double horn. I have to admit the concept, at least, intrigues me. It has to weigh a ton.
Does anyone here know anything about this horn? Is it playable, or is it something that is going to be in a museum/collection someday?
What kind of sound does it have? How is the intonation? How do the F and CC sides of the horn compare?
On the concept end of things, it would seem to be the ultimate quintet horn.
Anyway, I was just curious.
