It's a versatile horn, and by all means it's a good tuba.. but I don't think that the added versatility in the low register is enough on it's own to automatically discount the other tubas that you mentioned as possibilities. My advice to you would be to try out all the horns. When trying out the Alexander, treat it the same as you treat the other bass horns and judge it by the same standards. The low register might be a bit better, but if you "absolutely LOVE" playing a different horn you might kick yourself later when you realize that the Alex might not have been the best choice afterall.

And remember, there's still a chance that this IS the horn from you- but you won't know until you've tried it out!
