I just got a CD off eBay called "Kingcake" which is tuba , reeds and percussion ( and occasional harmonica). Excellent CD!! My question is what do jazz tuba players use? I guess Howard Johnson uses Mahillion BBb's (?), Bob Stewart uses a Yamaha small (BBb?), I know of a guy in York PA (Hot House) who started on a King 2341 and got a Rusk Cut CC. That's quite a set of different instruments. What does Randy Montgomery use on Young Fogeys?

BBb to use with reeds (sax, clarinets, other horns)?, or do jazz players prefer smaller, more nimble, lighter sounding horns. Most jazz tubas definitely do not have a "large symphonic sound" but seem to prefer a more edgy, lighter sound.
