This will be another one of my no musical background, dumb beginner, type questions so bear with me. I've been busy with my white-out pen transposing the melody line to bass clef in the Baptist Hymnal so I can practice playing from it. I record myself playing the melody and then play the bass line along with it. Here's the question: (and remember I know nothing about composition, music theory, etc.) Why is the bass line most always scored so dang high? I play Eb so if I try dropping down a full octave, many of the notes are then too low.
