I know that Harvey Phillips is working on a re-release of some of the recordings he has done. I've heard the working copy and he is going through the legal stuff to get it out. He commissioned the Persichetti, he recorded it and will re-release it himself all on his own dime.

Does giving the recording away benefit Harvey Phillips? No.
Might he just say to hell with it and not do a re-release? Maybe.
Who gets screwed Harvey or everyone who wants to hear it? Not Harvey, he knows what it sounds like, all he will do is lose money.

So here's the answer - if you pass along recordings, the people involved with the recoding lose on the deal and have no incentive to record more. The number of recordings will drop to zero. All you will be doing is screwing yourself.
