At one time, I was told that many studio musicians preferred the 186 CC for its very reliable low F (124). Seeing as how microphones can be adjusted to make up for volume imbalances, this sort of makes sense. This could also be a minor urban legend.
F and F# (124 and 35) are certainly very good on my 186; not stuffy at all.
