#1 - I've got a buddy who found his father's '38 Conn BBb tuba and is attempting to restore it (on a non-existant budget). Does anyone know where I can get a third valve (inside part) for one of these?

#2 - The same buddy plays baritone in our church's brass ensemble. The horn he uses is a church provided Conn that has a horribly flat second valve. We've spent some time with him, the horn, and a tuner and can't get the A's and E's in tune. With the slide pushed all the way in he is still about a 1/4 step flat. I often end up pulling out my #1 slide trying to match his A's and E's. He can lip a few notes a little but not far enough.

Should we consider having the slide cut and does anyone know how much this might cost?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
