Please. Not every high school kid whose parents buy them a tuba intend to play it professionally or study it in college. And if they don't, they'll consistently get more tuba for the buck in BBb. We've had this discussion a thousand times before. If the kid is a good enough player to sensibly consider training to be a professional, he will have a teacher who will provide the appropriate guidance on when to make the switch. If not, he'd much rather have a $3000 Bb tuba that he can play now as opposed to a $5000 CC (in the realm of front piston tubas, that is) that he can't afford. Good tubas retain their value well if kept in pristine condition, and so the risk is not that great.
