When I played my little F in the group, it was perfect, fitting comfortably between the euphoniums and the 4/4 rotary tubas everyone used in that band. It would not fit so well in a band where the contrabass were all big, blossomy American-style horns, but then neither would a lot of Eb's. A Monster Eb would probably do fine, however.

Or your Willson. But the Willson F has the same characteristics as the Eb. I played the F at the Army conference, and that horn sounded and felt like a contrabass to me. That would be a good horn to match with a section of 6/4 CC's in a pro band.
