I'm curious if any of you out there who have rotary valve instruments have run into a problem I'm having. The retaining screw (the one that holds the linkage to the valve stem) on the third valve of one of my tubas keeps coming loose. It happens gradually, usually over the course of 7 to 10 minutes of sustained playing. I've never had this happen before with an instrument and I'm wondering what the solution is, short of glueing or soldering the sucker in place.
If you have a good suggestion, please offer it. I'm really tired of constantly tightening this screw! Thanks to any who can help.
