Hi.
I have been an adjunct professor this past semester, with the option of continuing next semeseter as well. The problem comes in the fact that the school I teach at is about three hours away, and I found out today that they will not consider paying mileage. I took the job because I enjoy teaching, but the students have a habit of not practicing and skipping lessons. Today I drove six hours and only taught two students, each for a half hour. I'm also a full time graduate student with a studio of six students, and I have a private studio that currently has six students. My question is how important is it to have the title of "adjunct professor" verus teaching assistant when it comes to getting a job. Keeping the job means I contiue to have to fight to find time to practice, but I feel like I'm gaining valuable teaching experience. If anyone has been here and can help from the other side I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.
