One quick question: What type of mouthpiece do you use? The reason I ask is because I have seen this situation with certain players who use a funnel style mouthpiece, specifically a Conn Helleberg. If you are using a funnel style mouthpiece, and assuming there isn't any other explanation for the problem, you might try using a bowl style mouthpiece and see if the annoying sound doesn't go away.
