Other posters have told good reasons to learn all clefs relevant foor a given instrument.

The pedagogical method varies from person to person. I have been around the horn in an early age, so transposition comes easy to me. For others transposition takes the fun out of everything.

One method easily at hand would be to use my Low Brass scale routines. Aside from tubas in F, Eb, CC, and BBb they also are directed towards euphonium written in Bb treble and concert bass clefs.

These two versions make it possible to compare the two systems of notation bar for bar and note for note. If your son has the slightest musical talent and talent for systematic thinking, he will get the idea of playing in bass clef next to immediately.

My motivation for learning transposition was, that I was too lazy to rewrite the parts. Your son will want to spent as little time as possible with scales. That will be his motivation for mastering the easy task of learning a new clef very fast.

My scale routines so far comprise these modes: Major, the 3 most common Minor modes, and the Mixolydian (dominant 7) modes. The Dorian mode will follow very soon.
