I think that we are rather married to the concert band idea, but the Brass Band movement is strong. The musical benefits of playing any instrument are obvious. I really don't feel that it matters. There is beginner music for the brass band (Salvation Army) though that might fly in the face of state-funded schools, but they seem only to worry about words. Talk to Yamaha about sponsoring your band. I seem to remember when I was in HS in 19-none-of-your-business that Yamaha was offering to promote HS brass bands. The only drawback is that there is no standard set for HS BB's. You can't go to your local music store and pick up the latest 5-note wonder from your Bb band writers, but you are the type who wouldn't mind breaking ground!!!
