You may want to look into putting in a drop ceiling eventually, but until then, you may want to strategically place some fibreglass insulation between the joyces and or some homemade acoustical tiles consiting of those cheap white 2x4 lay-in tiles like what are found in offices and some thick (3-4") foam rubber glued onto it. This will significantly cut down on reverberations, therefore deadening the room and your sound, both good and bad. Utimately however, the only significant way to cut down the sound is to completely finish the basement with drywall over insulation on the concrete walls and a grid or lay in ceiling to deaden the noise. This would be somewhat costly, but it also looks good if you ever have to sell the house as a childrens play room, or mother - in - law room.
