When I bought my first tuba from Alexander in 1968, the catalogue/price list showed solid nickel-silver as an optional special order in all models of tubas and possibly everything else. Also, if I recall correctly, at the 1984 International Brass Conference held at Indiana University, Michael Lind was playing a nickel-silver Alex F tuba. It is possible I am mistaken about Michael's tuba, but I am certain about the Alexander catalogue.

For a numder of years Walter Sear imported Mahillon and Duprinze (my spelling ??) tubas from France or Belgium that were nickel-silver.
