Where in the hell do all you people go to school? I've been a band director for several years and I hope that I become the kind of teacher you guys have described. Sure you have to put your foot down over something that a student may not understand, but I try very hard to make my students love music and enjoy playing. I know some weird guys who teach band but none like the ones we've been discussing. I'm far from being a perfect BD but some of these stories seem almost unbelievable. I just hope that we can avoid the usual tendancy to start bashing away at all band directors including the ones who post their opinions here.
