Last I heard Pictures was some months ago on the radio. The orchestra was a world level one from one of the few capitals having more orchestras of such a high level.
The general performance was good and I was pleased to hear a euphonium do the Bydlo entrance. But I soon ended up in a less than pleased state of mind.
Every single of the slurred-up-to high G#’s was preceded by an F# everything-but-graceful grace note. Not as a means of musical expression. Simply sloppy slurring work which was not able to avoid the 1st finger seventh partial.
