Figure that there are fewer military bands now than there have been in years, and the WWII & Korean war vets are starting to die off in greater numbers. The Marine D&B Corps already sends buglers, on average, four days a week or more, and that's not counting burials by other branches.

I haven't yet seen a military burial where the ceremonial personnel have had contact with the mourners (of course, most that I have seen were in Arlington National Cemetery), so the true nature of the electro-bugle won't really have to be revealed. Like the article mentions, it's certainly better than a boom box.

When testing started about a year ago, a lot of players were pretty shocked, and other former military players & local trumpeters have been offering their services.
