Yamaha used cover their low brass valve springs with some epoxy like stuff. Good idea, bad execution, as it fastly begins to peel off.
B&H/Besson have soft, but shaped, valve dampers in form of circular "washers" to be placed within piston bottoms and bottom valve caps. They have grooves/recesses for the springs.
I had/have good experiences with them on my 981 Eb, so I bought 2 extra sets for my Conn 40K and my York Master. Dimensions are not exactly the same. But they actually work to their intended purpose.
Had I had some more dedication, I would have found some appropriate material and cut them myself. For a fraction of the cost.
