How long can you continue to use the school's horn? What do you plan to do after school? I assume that you are talking about college and that you aren't a tuba performance major. If you get an F tuba for the smaller ensembles, will that suffice for you when you leave school? If you plan to play in the same kind of groups after school a 4/4 sized CC would be a reasonable choice. The other option is to use the VMI even for the smaller ensembles. It is a flexible enough horn for most groups in my opinion.
