Hello. You can eliminate the screw problem with some clear nail polish. What you do is coat the treads of the screw, screw it in, and then coat the out side of the screw where it meets the screw hole. (Can't think of a better word for it, sorry) I did this to mine about half a year ago and haven't heard a rattle since. Also, as for the sound concerns, try switching mouthpieces. I switched from a PT-50 to a PT-88 and have noticed it is a much better fit for the tuba, especially up high. Good luck!
