Last I heard violin and viola players didn't have to worry about embouchure, unless maybe they hummed or whistled along with the music. There is a definite impact on my tuba chops if I have played euphonium for a while. I think that it is very different than doubling on different woodwind instruments, or even different varieties of trumpet like things(trumpet/picc/flugle/cornet).

Of course doubling is useful and can be fun, but I find I have to balance time between them to keep both in shape.
